Wootton Courtenay Villagers’ Stores Ltd.
The Directors of our village-owned company are very aware of the importance of the role of the village shop during this critical and dangerous time. Andy Giles deserves our thanks and support for his hard work, thoughtful organisation and active support of our community. Andy is making substantial increases to his stock levels and developing strategies to be able to take phone and internet orders and offer delivery services through the village volunteer scheme.
We keep a capital reserve for a ‘rainy day’, and are therefore able to offer financial support to Andy so that he can maintain the larger stock and buy in a wider range of items. Our aim, as always, is to ensure that our wonderful shop supports the whole village. We hope that you will use the shop so that we can all avoid unnecessary travel and contact. Andy’s order and delivery services will help us all stay safe and go a long way to prevent infection.
We must also think about Andy’s welfare. Working in the shop means that he will be exposed to a lot of contact. If you visit the shop, please ensure that you keep a safe distance and, if the shop is busy, it will be safer to wait outside until it is quieter. For Andy’s safety, we may need to limit the shop hours; any changes in these will be posted on the village email. If the shop opening hours are reduced this will not affect times for ordering and delivery.
Above all, we will try to ensure that the shop is able to support us all in these uncertain times.
