A huge thank you to all the villagers who came to bid farewell to Stan on Tuesday 1st February, to Rt. Revd. Dr. Brian Castle who put so much into the preparation of the service, to Sir Roger Carrick, Revd. Barry Priory, and Marcus Capel (Organist), and his superb choir with soloists Daphne Midwood and Jackie Butterworth. Thanks also to Revd. Caroline Ralph, the wonderful ‘flower ladies’ and to Amanda Elliott for their help in preparing the church. Thanks also to Brian Matthews whose help and advice in arranging the use of the village hall was invaluable.
A big thank you to ‘John, next door’ (John Bradley of The Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel) who worked tirelessly over Monday and Tuesday. A great example of ‘going the extra mile’ (or two)!
Thanks to the kitchen helpers who did a sterling job keeping the teapot going. I think we will all remember the reception, with the unbelievable spread provided by Stan’s god-daughter Claire Clark MBE. Stan would have been so proud.
We also wish to say thank you for the donations, which are going to aid the work of St. Margaret’s Hospice Care (Taunton).
