ACTION TO TAKE ONLY IF THE PATIENT IS UNCONSCIOUS

In the event of someone becoming unconscious carry out the following in this order.

  1. TRY & KEEP CALM
  2. Endeavour to lie the patient on their side initially
  3. Ensure airways are clear and remove any false teeth
  4. DIAL 999 (leave front door open and outside light ON)
  5. Make sure you keep your telephone with you at all times
  6. Contact a First Responder of your choice
  7. Commence CPR (roll patient on to their back first) (See below)

The Defibrillator First Responders are NOT registered Paramedics but have been given special instruction in the use of the Defibrillator.

If patient is NOT breathing commence CPR (see pictoral demonstration of CPR technique below) until help arrives. DO NOT DELAY

 

Defibrillator

The Defibrillator is checked regularly and is contained in a special blue cabinet on the west side (left side if facing Shop) of the VILLAGE SHOP. 

If needed, open the cabinet  – and remove the 
bag containing the defibrillator.

Full step by step verbal instructions are given by the machine
 once it is opened.

Training sessions were arranged for all interested residents and a
refresher session is provided annually
