Those of you who attended the Village Hall Committee AGM and Social on Tuesday evening will remember that I was excited to announce that it has again become possible for us to host a Take Art show. We have had many successful shows in the past but a lack of funding meant that our area of Somerset suffered and for a time we were unable to book any. Take Art is a Somerset based charity whose aim is to bring the arts to rural communities.
The show the committee has chosen is Flying Solo – David Eagle.
David is a multi award winning stand up comedian and musician, and he was crowned New Comedian of the Year by Nottingham Comedy Festival, Bath Comedy Festival and Leicester Square Theatre.
David is blind and his stand up often explores how this leads him into numerous surprising misadventures. Armed with an accordion, he punctuates his jokes and stories with the occasional comedy song, one of which was written about in The Guardian as ‘a comic tour de force’. I have been told that we are lucky to have him.
