Village Talks – “Sing Freedom: The Story of the African American Spirituals and their Relevance for Today”
We would like to thank Brian Castle for his sensitive and captivating talk on African American spirituals. We learned some of the history behind the slave songs, we listened to the beautiful voices of Paul Robeson and Joan Baez, and we even joined in with some singing ourselves. Thank you, Brian! The evening was enjoyed by a very appreciative audience and the retiring collection raised £200 for The Friends of Musgrove Park Hospital.
