Wootton Courtenay Flower & Produce Show

Tuesday 1st August, 2023

It’s that time of year again and this is to remind you all to start thinking about what you might enter to make our show benches full of colour, filled with vegetables, herbs, flowers, baking, jams and jellies, anything made with a needle, knitting or sewing, and photographs. There is something for everyone and the atmosphere is always friendly rivalry and may the best one win although, I have always felt, it is taking part that matters, not necessarily winning.
This is not the County Show, it is an amateur (although we have always had some splendid and high class entries) show, it is a coming together of our wonderful village to be enjoyed by everyone.

I have had some correspondence from some photographers worrying about their entries already; that is good, but this is not a professional show and we need, as a Committee, to have classes that give the best photographer and the total amateur a chance. Photographs may be up to a maximum size of 8” x 12”, and must have been taken during the 12 months (since 1st August 2022). There will be a ‘People’s Choice’ competition, as well as our professional judge, to give everyone a chance to take part, so that anyone who likes taking photographs will feel encouraged to enter. All are welcome.

The good news is that the Schedules will be in the Village Shop at the beginning of next month, so grab a copy and think about how many things you can enter to make this year’s show THE BEST EVER!

Good luck,

Veronica Clegg
