AI Talk Tonight!

Monday 26th June at 7.30pm in the Village Hall
Doors open at 7.00pm

Bill Hodgson and Alex Pervak present:
‘Artificial Intelligence – How to Use and What to Fear?

We have been working on our AI talk for Monday night and we hope to entertain you with the things AI can do well…and the ways it can go badly wrong.

As part of our talk we will be involving the audience to demonstrate the capabilities of AI. We would like you to come along with some thoughts on:

An imaginary image. Describe both a setting, the people or things in that setting, and an artistic style for the image.
Be ready to suggest one ingredient for an AI generated recipe (we will ask a few people, then get AI to make us a recipe).
Consider a piece of gardening advice you would like to receive. About a plant, a technique, or a place in your garden.
Think of a favourite book, which we can ask AI to summarise, and see how well it understands the contents.
A topic for a sermon – we’re not trying to automate Caroline Ralph but show how creative AI writing can be.

We will be asking for your input on those topics in order to demonstrate the powers and limitations of the new AI services which are making the headlines.

Mary Noble has been helping us achieve a ‘keep it simple’ approach and aim the talk at people who aren’t technically minded. We hope to show the many ways AI is being used to benefit us all, in areas such as medicine, policing and popular entertainment. And to then explain whether AI will take over the world, and some of the threats. (The answer is it won’t).

The bar opens from 7.00pm.

See you there,

Bill, Alex and Mary
