Wootton Courtenay Gardening Club Flower & Produce Show – Tuesday 1st August 2023
Thank you all for coming to the Show. So many people helped to make the day such a success. They deserve a special mention and a big thank you from myself and the marvellous committee who run the Show every year. Without their help and support, the Show might just not run as smoothly as it does.
We would like to thank Linda Stenner who organised the teas with Trish Matthews and Carrie Ball, plus others, particularly those who came and donated such a variety of delicious cakes which tasted as good as they looked.
To Liz Reed and Helen Jones, who made such a success of the raffle; to Lindsay Cresswell who printed out all the entry slips and, with Jan Harris, helped Belinda write them all, a long and arduous job; Mark Oxtoby, who put up the photographs with such care and ran the Peoples’ Choice; to Eddie Bishop who conducted the auction, and Greta Gardener for taking wonderful photographs of the day. We owe them many thanks and appreciation for what they did. However, there were many others who helped set up the hall and who did so many little jobs which all go to make the event run smoothly, a true village event.
Finally, we were sad that David Lowman could not present the prizes as planned as he had tested positive for Covid a week before. I understand he is making a good recovery and we wish him a speedy one.
Ingrid Popplewell takes over as Chair from now on. She will do a brilliant job with the excellent committee she has, so we will all look forward to seeing you all at next years Show. Put it in your diaries…Tuesday 6th August. Start planning what you might exhibit NOW!
