Once again it is time to think about compost!
We have in recent years placed a bulk order for compost for anyone in the village who is interested. This enables us to buy at trade prices and hence gives a considerable saving.
For several years I have placed an order for Dalefoot compost, which is made in the Lake District and is based on bracken and sheep wool. It is a consistent product and very good to handle, see www.dalefootcomposts.co.uk for more information.
Last year I also placed an order for Rocketgro, which is produced in Cannington and therefore the transport costs are much less. In my experience this is a much wetter product and not as easy to handle, see www.Rocketgro.co.uk
Unfortunately, as with everything, the costs have gone up this year.
The cost/ per bag inc VAT and transportation are:-
DALEFOOT (all 30 litre bags unless stated otherwise)
Wool compost for potting
Veg compost
Lakeland Gold
Are all £6.42/bag
Double strength wool compost and tomato compost are £7.03/ bag
Bulb compost is £4.72/ 20 litre bag
Seed compost is £4.01/ 12 litre bag
These prices are for full pallets of a single type. In the past I have mainly ordered full pallets, but if I order a mixed pallet there is a further £15 charge which could add a small amount to the bag cost (there are about 70 bags/pallet)

All composts are £4.32/ bag for full pallets
If I order a mixed pallet the price is £5.04/ bag
