Harvest Celebrations

Harvest Festival – Sunday, 8th October at 6.00pm

We are approaching the traditional time of harvest. The full moon on 29th September is known as the Harvest Moon in the Old Farmer’s Almanac. Harvest Festival at All Saints’ Church, Wootton Courtenay, will be on Sunday, 8th October at 6pm. This year’s service will be a little different from usual as it will be followed by a fifteen-minute candlelit performance by talented young violinist, Anthony Knight. Anthony first played in Wootton Courtenay in October, 2022, and he has spent the intervening twelve months tirelessly fundraising for the DEC Ukraine Appeal. We are very pleased that he wants to return and play for us again. The retiring collection in the church with be for the Ukraine appeal.

As is traditional in rural areas, Harvest Festival must be followed by a Harvest Supper – it’s the law! So supper will be in the village hall after the church service. There will be the usual selection of delicious soups, followed by a plethora of puddings and cheese. The retiring collection after supper will be for church funds.

If you’d like to come to this most traditional of village celebrations, please sign up in the shop (simply to give an idea of numbers for catering).

And if you have been, thanks for reading!
