Harvest Festival Musician

The Harvest Festival service at All Saints’, Wootton Courtenay, is on Sunday, 8th October at 6pm, followed by 15 minutes of violin music and then harvest supper at the village hall. I thought you might all like to hear a little about Anthony Knight, the young musician who will be playing for us. Anthony has performed sixty-three recitals in churches and care homes and raised £11,615 for the DEC Ukraine Appeal since he first played for us here in October last year.

Anthony has been honoured with the following awards for his amazing fundraising:

On 29th January, 2023, he received the High Sheriff’s Award for his charity work in Somerset.
On 11th May, he received the Sandy Padgett Pride of Somerset Youth Award.
On 5th July, he received the Somerset Anne Frank Youth Award for ‘demonstrating our core value of working within conflict resolution and social inclusion’.
On 11th July, at the House of Commons, he received a Young Achiever Award: ‘Celebrating Future Leaders In Service Of Others’, organised by Universal Peace Federation (UPF) UK, and hosted by Dean Russell MP.
On 16th August, he received the Lions’ Club Young Leaders in Service Gold Award for his charity work.
Anthony’s father, Paul Knight, says that Anthony hopes to inspire other young musicians to use their talents to make a positive difference in the world.

Anthony will be playing pieces by Telemann and Bach in his short set at All Saints’ on 8th October. The retiring collection after the harvest service will be for the DEC Ukraine Appeal.

Supper sign-up sheet is in the Villagers’ Stores.

With thanks,

Amanda
