‘Sing for Ukraine’ Concert in Porlock Village Hall
Saturday, 14th October at 7:30pm
We’re conducting a concert, ‘Sing for Ukraine’, in Porlock village hall next Saturday. This is a joint concert by the Minehead Male Voice Choir (MMVC) and West Somerset Ukrainian Choir (WSUC). The concert will consist of two parts and will be led by MMVC with their new programme, and 3 songs by WSUC, followed by light refreshments.
Tickets are £10 and are available from Wootton Courtenay Post Office or from Alex Pervak – pervak@gmail.com or call 07467 632198.
About West Somerset Ukrainian Choir and the programme:
The WSUC was recently formed by Ukrainian refugees who fled to the UK after the war began in their homeland. They will perform songs which are deeply meaningful to Ukrainians.
Their setlist includes ‘Chervona Kalyna’, an anthem celebrating Ukrainian resilience and hope; ‘Perelaz’, a nostalgic folk song recalling childhood in Ukraine; and the National Anthem of Ukraine, a defiant tribute to the country’s ancient roots and ongoing fight for freedom. Through their music, these refugees share their culture and experiences while raising awareness of the conflict that forced them from their homes.
The joint concert promises to be a moving experience highlighting the voices of Ukraine’s displaced people.
