As well as ‘regular’ request for donations, WSFC is asking West Somerset residents to donate special Christmas items. It would be wonderful if you could help out with some of the following:
🎅Christmas puddings
🎅Christmas cakes
🎅Mince pies
🎅Christmas biscuits
🎅Christmas chocolates
🎅Christmas pickles
🎅Christmas stuffing
🎅Turkey gravy granules
You may have recently seen in the West Somerset Free Press that the Food Cupboard has won the Kings Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS). This is an amazing achievement; KAVS is the highest award given to voluntary groups in the UK, celebrating outstanding works by charities.
What do the WSFC volunteers do? They collect donated food, quality control it, and sort it in to emergency boxes which are designed to to feed a family of four for three days, or bags for single people who have no access to cooking facilities. WSFC distributed 124 emergency parcels last month, taking the total this year to 1,217 – compared to 976 at the same time last year.
Please continue to give generously. Thank you.
