The Revd Nicola Butt, the assistant priest for All Saints’ and St Petrock’s, will be leading a discussion group during Lent, which will focus on Julian of Norwich, based around a book about her life. The book we will be discussing is : “At the Foot of the Cross with Julian of Norwich” by Emma Pennington. It is a very accessible book that takes the reader into Mother Julian’s 14th Century world. It considers the background to her visions and the writings that Julian bequeaths us, the modern reader. Each book chapter focuses on one of her revelations: every one seeks to make the Passion of Christ present to the reader.
The first meeting, when we will discuss the opening chapters, will be on Monday, 26th February at 6.30 for 7pm in the village shop. There will be a small charge of £1 to pay for the heating and lighting. Subsequent discussions will be on Monday 4th, 18th and 25th March at the same time and in the same place. If you’d like to join us you will be very welcome – it promises to be an interesting evening.
