Save the date!
You won’t want to miss the next village talk.

Amanda has written a little introduction to whet your appetites:
Dickens: the man, the writer, the legend
Did you know that Dickens refused to meet Queen Victoria – not just once, but several times? That on her wedding night, Dickens and a friend lurked near Windsor Castle, rolling in the mud in protest at her marriage? Did you know that Dickens had a wall built down their bedroom when he grew tired of his wife, Catherine? That, because of the shabby way he treated her, some old friends never spoke to him again? Considered to be the first literary celebrity, Dickens self styled himself as ‘the inimitable’?
Everything you wanted to know about Dickens but were afraid to ask will be revealed on Tuesday, 6th February at 7 for 7.30pm in the village hall, during a whistle stop tour of Dickens’ life and works by Amanda Elliott, with a collection for British Dalmatian Welfare. Because, whatever else he may have been, Dickens was a dog lover – therefore, not all bad. There will be a bar – you’re going to need it!
See you there!
