Easter Garden

Easter is just around the corner – Sunday 31st March. This year, we are intending to construct an Easter Garden in front of the magnificent, ancient yew tree in the churchyard – we last did this in 2021. The Easter Garden is a depiction of the events of Good Friday and Easter Day and so it is made up of three crosses and a tomb with the stone rolled away as a dramatic reminder of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

On Easter day, we hope the area in front of the yew tree will be a riot of flowers reflecting the joy and celebration of Easter and we invite all who wish, to be part of this celebration and to take part in the construction of the Garden. The Easter Garden will be available for the whole village.

More details will be made available nearer the time, but in the meantime, can we please ask you to think about providing:

Small potted plants to provide the riot of flowers for Easter Day. You would be able to take these back a week after Easter.

Stones or pebbles with people’s hopes for the future. Easter is a time of hope and new beginnings when we celebrate unbelievable bright futures emerging from dark and trying circumstances. Death and darkness do not have the last word. The world is passing through dark times at present:you may be passing through dark times. It would be great if villagers’ hopes for the future could be written on stones and placed within the Easter Garden.

Could you help with the construction of the Easter Garden, most of which will take place on the Saturday, the day before Easter?

Do you have any other thoughts or ideas for the Garden?
