Now is the time to plant hanging baskets to decorate the front of the village hall on the day of the Flower & Produce Show in August. Everyone is invited to take part. The green plastic baskets are free – you can collect them from me here at Crockford House (Lower Town), then plant them up yourself and grow them on. Or you may have one or two left over from previous years which you can reuse.
This year’s colour scheme is purple, orange and lime green, and the baskets will be judged at the Flower Show, so you could be in line for a prize! My favourite place to go for summer colour is Cove Garden Nursery, near Tiverton (https://www.covegardennursery.co.uk). They stock a wide range of bedding plants, and their prices are very competitive.
Why not give it go? Let’s festoon the hall with a real pop of colour this August. Just reply to this email if you’d like to come and collect one or two baskets (or more), and then go mad with rich purple, hot orange and zingy lime green plants!
