On Saturday, 22nd June, a handsome bag from an up-market booksellers was left on the bench seat by our front door. The bag contains two also up-market history books, both published this year, one to accompany a current exhibition at the British Museum.
This looks like a particularly generous, undeserved and anonymous gift. We have no idea who left the bag, nor why, and wonder if it should have been delivered elsewhere.
