Forgive the length of this message, but we have a lot of people to thank.
Firstly, thank you to Andy and Tanya for the gracious way they hosted Nick, Mandy and their close family and friends. Thank you to Jane, Sarah and their team for the really beautiful flowers which made the Church so stunning. Thank you to our Moor Sound Singers who led our singing and, as one family member said, gave us the confidence to “sing out”! Thank you Paddy and his team of bell ringers for all your hard work and practising – it was wonderful to hear them ring for such a happy occasion. As someone in the village said, “We had singers, ringers and swingers”!
The welcoming community of friends and neighbours as we came out of the church was great. We have always known that Wootton Courtenay was a very special place in which to live and last weekend proved it!
Now – The Wedding Feast – what would we have done without Brian and Trish. They worked with us for hours to turn our great village hall into a beautiful wedding venue. Then Veronica created two amazing arrangements which added the ‘icing on the cake’. The caterers, Jen’s Pantry, produced a feast of dishes which not only fed all our guests, but continued to feed everyone for the next two days.
Last but by no means least – Mark and Sarah. We couldn’t have done it without them. They have worked quietly in the background, Mark sourcing the beer and wine and organising the bar, which Lee and Pete helped to run, and Sarah decorating the hall and doing all the table flowers with my sister Ann, and countless other jobs – both whilst still running the shop!
Then there was the evening – wow! Thank you to all our wonderful friends from the village who came and helped us celebrate. The band played three great sets (apologies to the neighbours!) and our grandsons Dave and Sam even joined them for a couple of numbers, singing and on the saxophone. They had us all on our feet and the older generation showed the youngsters that they weren’t the only ones who could still do a few moves! A wonderful time was had by all.
With our gratitude,
Brian & Margaret, Nick & Mandy
