The service at All Saints’ Church, Wootton Courtenay, this Sunday, 12th January 2025 at 11am, is our locally led ‘Songs of Praise’ service. This service always has lots of hymn singing as the congregation choose their favourite hymns. The ‘thought for the day’ is usually given by a local resident and the subjects have ranged from looking for elephants in West Wales; celebrating Thanksgiving, American style, to a thought about Tina Turner, to name but a few.
This Sunday, Brian Castle will reflect on the tradition of wassailing – something that began in the cider orchards of the West of England but is now seen around the world. There will also be some traditional readings from the wassail and some mulled cider after the service to keep out the chill. Everyone welcome.
