Fly Tipping in Domestic Bin

To whom it may concern.

Before Tuesday morning’s (28th Jan) rubbish collection, two plastic bags, one a rubble bag, both full of unsorted and mostly recyclable domestic rubbish were added to our large black bin outside Windrose, Wootton Courtenay. This was done without our permission, and no contact was made with us. More importantly, the rubbish inserted (at a push) in our waste bin should all have been sorted into recycling categories and placed in appropriate containers – not ours, but those of whoever was responsible.

Whether this action was taken by a temporary visitor, or a temporary resident of a village dwelling, we cannot be sure, but we bring the matter to general notice in case it happens to others, or in case the perpetrator should read this.

We believe that this is a sensible village where recycling is the norm. This sort of unfriendly and irresponsible action, in the face of the rules of recycling in this part of Somerset, threatens the recycling system, increases costs, and if repeated or widespread, arguably could help precipitate a change to a less frequent service.
