SSSI Status Correction

A correction to Marion’s appeal to sign the Rivers Trust petition yesterday: the SSSI [in the Severn River] is for its geology (fossils in the rocks), only extends to mean low water, and has no requirements for fish.

But the area near Hinkley is a Special Area of Conservation established under the Habitats Directive, a more serious requirement.

The lagoon site was chosen to be well away from the SAC and would not have the technical issues in installing and maintaining its Acoustic Fish Deterrents.
