The ‘Songs of Praise’ service next Sunday, 11th May, at 11am in All Saints’ Church, Wootton Courtenay, will join in with the national spirit of commemorating the eightieth anniversary of VE Day. We will mark the occasion with songs of the war years (did anyone other than Vera Lynn sing anything?), war poems and reminiscences of Britain at war. There will be, as usual, the chance to choose and sing your favourite hymn and we will end with coffee and cake – not made to wartime recipes, I promise. Why not come along for an opportunity, after the community celebrations, to think quietly about all that happened 80 years ago? Maybe a chance for us to meet again?!
