A big thank you and many congratulations to Ruth Walker and the fantastic team whose innovative ideas, meticulous planning and sheer hard work gave us all a day of nostalgia to remember the sacrifices and bravery of our armed forces and the civilian population of that long ago era.
We three were aged 8, 7, 1 and a twinkle respectively on 8th May 1945!
The day was set on the church steps by the proclamation of the celebrations by our Village Crier, from now on to be known as ‘O Yez, Oh Yez’.
The general ambience, music, delicious food and ‘street party’ atmosphere of the 1940s was further enhanced by the authentic dress of notable characters of the village community. As the military would say, ‘no names, no pack drill’.
Renewed thanks to ALL involved in the organisation of this memorable village occasion.
