Police have received a report from Watchet about QR stickers on parking ticket machines which are fraudulently charging people £50 for parking when they submit their details.
This is a picture of this sticker that the scammers put over the official QR code on one machine [the code has been partially blanked out so it cannot be used]. Currently it seems this has only happened in Watchet – however, these fake QR stickers may also have been put on other parking machines in the area, so it pays to be vigilant.
Police are advising people NOT to scan the QR codes on local parking machines, and to check to see if there is a small sticker on top of the usual PaybyPhone sticker by picking at the edge if it appears raised.
