Be Palm Oil Aware!
Almost all packaged goods you see in the supermarket contain palm oil: from toothpaste to pizzas; from cleaning products to biscuits. It is a very useful product and there is nothing wrong with it per se. The problem lies with how and where it originates. We have all heard about, and abhor, the illegal and rapid deforestation of the rainforest for palm oil production. However, palm oil can, and is, being produced sustainably. Increasingly brands and supermarkets are committing to sustainable palm oil. So whatever you buy, check the ingredients list for sustainable palm oil. And check online the manufacturer’s position on its production.
