Rather a long message, but there are so many people to thank for their help and generosity with Saturday’s (31st May) Tabletop Sale. Taking it from the top: thank you to Valerie, Pip, Margaret, Hilary and Barbara who worked tirelessly to serve refreshments and do washing up throughout the event. Thanks to Diana, who sat at the door to the village hall all day, taking the entrance fees.
Thanks to all those who booked tables and sold goods – there would have been no sale without you. Special thanks to Paul and Nicky Scott and Maggie Robertson who gave their day’s takings to the church roof fund. Thanks to Faith and Otto of ‘Cardigan Curiosities’ for coming all the way from West Wales and bringing antique hunters with them!
A thank you to those people who made private donations – you know who you are. Thanks to Sarah and Paul in the shop for not opening for coffee on Saturday morning – our coffee was OK but not in Mr B’s league!
Thanks to everyone who made cakes, donated raffle prizes and just to all of you who pitched up on the day and made the event special. As a visitor from Dulverton said, “the Wootton Courtenay tabletop sale is not like a jumble sale but is a day out and a social event”. That’s nice.
Drum roll! We raised approximately one thousand, one hundred and forty pounds: £1,140. I say ‘approximately’ because there is still some money to come in. Such outstanding generosity. As several people said yesterday: “that’ll buy us a few more tiles”!
Thank you from one very happy – but still rather tired – Churchwarden.
