National Grid Works Update

By now you may have received a letter from National Grid with details of a 2 or 3 hour power outage on your road on a specific day. Please note this is in addition to the full day power outages mentioned in the previous village email, which included the work dates for each road in the village. Click here to read the previous email.

If you have received a letter stating a power outage time of between 8:00am – 9:00am and 4:00pm – 6:00pm, in reality the outage will only be for a few minutes at the beginning and end of these periods, while the team transfer from the mains to the generator, and vice versa when the work is complete.

The team want to make everyone aware that the scale of works this time will be much greater than when the poles went up earlier in the year. There will be multiple vehicles and men on site, and access in and out of each work zone will be a lot more problematic than before, especially as the roads are narrow in places.

The National Grid team have to maintain access for residents, but they are asking everyone to avoid coming in or out of their property while they are working on the road they live on, unless absolute necessary. This will ensure the works are completed on time and the power outages don’t overrun. As you can imagine if they have to move multiple vehicles multiple times it will seriously affect the speed of the works. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
