A reminder that our next meeting is on Monday, when the topic will be ‘Freedom of Speech.’ Do we ‘police’ what a person says fearing that they may offend one group or another, thereby eroding the principle of free speech? At the same time, can the principle of free speech be used to say some abusive and unacceptable things to people? Are there limits to free speech? This is a fascinating and important topic, especially at this time with so much turbulence in the world. Some background notes can be found here.
As usual we meet at 7pm in the Villagers’ Stores. The bar will be open from 6.30pm. The evening will undoubtedly be full of unpredictable conversation and some stimulating poetry. All are welcome.
