We have received this enquiry to purchase a sizeable landscape painting of Dunkery Beacon by FJ Widgery. Although we declined, the seller agreed to our suggestion of posting it on the village email system to see if it would generate any interest locally. “Good afternoon,
Would you be interested in purchasing this landscape painting “The Slopes of Dunkery Beacon”? It was painted by a well known artist, Frederick John Widgery (1861 – 1942), who was at one time Mayor of Exeter. The painting is quite big: 41 x 31 inches. It is currently in Hampshire but I could probably get it delivered to Somerset. I am happy to sell it privately if I receive an acceptable offer. Otherwise I will send it to auction.”
