West Somerset Railway 50th Anniversary weekend
Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th March
The West Somerset Railway was closed by British Rail in January 1971. A small group of volunteers managed to re-open the line in March 1976, so this year marks the 50th anniversary of that incredible achievement.

Over the weekend of 28th/29th March there will be a Grand Re-opening Anniversary event with numerous steam trains and heritage diesel trains running through glorious countryside along the entire 20 miles of the line from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard throughout the weekend.
You can pick-up a 2026 timetable at the Villagers’ Stores.
