ACTION TO TAKE ONLY IF THE PATIENT IS UNCONSCIOUS

In the event of someone becoming unconscious carry out the following in this order.

  1. TRY TO KEEP CALM
  2. Endeavour to lie the patient on their side initially
  3. Ensure airways are clear and remove any false teeth
  4. DIAL 999 (leave their house front door open and outside light ON)
  5. Make sure you keep your mobile phone with you at all times
  6. Contact a First Responder of your choice (see phone numbers below)
  7. Roll the patient onto their back and commence CPR (see instructions below)

PLEASE NOTE: FIRST RESPONDERS NOT LISTED IN ANY ORDER OF PRIORITY

The Defibrillator First Responders are NOT registered paramedics but have been given special instruction in the use of the Defibrillator. The list was last updated in April 2025.

If patient is NOT breathing commence CPR (see pictoral demonstration of CPR technique below) until help arrives. DO NOT DELAY

 

Defibrillator

The Defibrillator is checked regularly and is contained in a special blue cabinet on the west side (left side if facing Shop) of the VILLAGE SHOP. 

If needed, open the cabinet  – and remove the 
bag containing the defibrillator. Training sessions are arranged for all interested residents and a 
refresher session is provided annually.

Full step by step verbal instructions are given by the machine
 once it is opened.
