Welcome to Guardian Readers

Last week The Guardian newspaper ran this story: 10 amazing ancient ruins in Britain with great views  Number 2 on the list was Dunkery Beacon, with a link to this village website. Visitors should know that the walk up to the Beacon is relatively easy, the shortest route being from parking spots on the road here. If you have arrived on the site from the Guardian story, we recommend you visit this part of West Somerset not just for the Beacon but for the surrounding countryside, beaches and villages.  Stay in Wootton Courtenay at the Dunkery Beacon Country House Hotel and enjoy the whole of Exmoor while you are here.
