Porlock Fire Station may close under changes being considered by Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service. The closure would be likely to increase response times, meaning local residents would be at increased risk should a fire break out.
A petition has been started, to protest against the closure. At present, the closure is only at the proposal stage, so there is still an opportunity to stop it happening. Please sign the petition when you next visit the village shop in Wootton Courtenay. The more opposition we can muster, the more likely we are to be heard.
Over the next few weeks there will be a number of other ways in which the public can give their views on the new measures, including a series of public drop-in exhibitions. Further information has been published on the website www.dsfire.gov.uk
