Volunteer Needed to Help Sight-Impaired Person

Somerset Sight is a registered charity which has supported people with sight impairment across Somerset since 1919.  We received the Queens Award in 2019, which is the highest accolade that can be awarded for voluntary service in the UK.  One of our services is the Volunteer Visiting Service, within which local volunteers are matched up with visually impaired people and visit them on a fortnightly basis, for company and support.

We are currently looking for a male volunteer to visit a very bright elderly gentleman in Exford who can no longer drive due to sight loss.  He would love to go to the pub once a fortnight with a volunteer, for company and social contact.  Is there anyone who would be interested in visiting him please?

We DBS check our volunteers and pay all reasonable expenses, including mileage.  If you have a little time to spare once a fortnight, please contact the local Somerset Sight Co-ordinator, Claire Packwood, on 01643 842972 or email claire.packwood@somersetsight.org.uk

Thank you.
