A plea to those in the village who feel obliged, whenever the sun shines, to light a smoky bonfire in the middle of the day.  As a matter of courtesy, could you at least warn your neighbours of your intentions so that washing can be retrieved and windows shut, or better still wait until the evening when most of us are inside.

I know that garden rubbish may be building up because the recycling centre is closed, but please spare a thought for others, especially those of us with respiratory problems. Please don’t add to our current difficulties.
