Tuesday 20th October, 7.30pm
Sally Gregson, who runs Mill Cottage Plants near Wookey, has kindly agreed to do a talk via Zoom for the Wootton Courtenay Gardening Club. The WCGC committee thought it would a be a nice gesture to open the talk up to the village at large, so you are all invited to tune in on the night. A private email will be sent out to you closer to the time, which will include a clickable link to enable you to join the group.
Sally is currently writing a book on The Winter Garden, which I thought would be an appropriate subject for us all in October, just as we’re heading into those shorter days. Good design can help provide structure and presence in the garden during winter, and Sally’s talk will offer invaluable advice on how we can bring cheer to our borders when we most need it.
If you haven’t already mastered Zoom, help is available from Bill Hodgson – email firstname.lastname@example.org . Once you’ve received the clickable link via email, it’s simply a case of clicking on it and making sure you have the sound on your computer turned on so that you can hear the talk. The Zoom meeting will open 15 minutes before the talk starts, so that any problems can be ironed out.
I have taken on the Chair of the Gardening Club, following Nigel Humphries’ retirement. As 2020 has been a year of lockdown and restrictions, the WCGC committee have decided to waive the club subscription fees for 2021. There will be no charge for this Zoom talk, and if it proves popular we will explore the possibility of other speakers using the same method while restrictions persist.
