This cute little fella is one of five baby hedgehogs I discovered behind our greenhouse with their mum. This is great for the species, but as you know, hedgehogs are endangered and these little guys won’t make it through winter, as they were born late in the season due to the mild weather and are underweight for hibernating.
So if you know you have a hedgehog in your garden, its worth carefully checking in on them to see if they have had a late family.
Our family of hedgehogs have been taken in by White Lodge Vet Clinic, to be nursed through winter and released in spring when they will have put on enough weight.
If you want to help your garden hedgehog through winter, they enjoy dog or cat food, but NOT bread or milk.
