For some years now, Wootton Courtenay has kindly donated Christmas presents for the children supported by Home-Start West Somerset. This tradition is continuing, and a collection box for the presents is now in the Villagers’ Store.
Home-Start UK is a national charity which helps families with children up to seven years of age by providing support during those crucial early years of childhood. The Covid-19 crisis has had a negative affect on many of the families supported by Home-Start, particularly where there may already be some underlying issues adding to the pressures of parenthood. The presents will, therefore, be especially welcome this year and bring some much needed joy to the families. Suggested presents include soft toys, books and puzzles.
Other ways you may wish to help Home-Start:
‘Give a Little Love’ is this year’s Christmas advert for the John Lewis and Waitrose Partnership. They will be matching all donations made to this campaign and will share the proceeds nationally between Home-Start UK and FareShare, the UK’s largest food bank charity.
You can nominate Home-Start West Somerset as your chosen charity when using easyfundraising.org.uk or Amazon Smile, and the charity will receive a small percentage of the value of your purchases. This year, easyfundraising.org.uk will also donate £1 to Home-Start every time it is nominated as the chosen charity by people joining this scheme, which is linked to thousands of online retailers.
Thank you for your generosity.
