Carol Singing – Monday at 5.30pm, Burnell Garage Forecourt

This is an informal gathering of people wanting the opportunity to sing some much-loved Christmas carols. Thanks to those who have emailed that they will come. Here is a reminder to those joining in:

· Bring a cup for mulled wine / juice
· Bring your own mince-pie / refreshment
· Bring a torch or lantern
· Wrap up well – prepare for rain
· Bring a face covering
· Bring some joy

Anybody wanting to bring decorations (especially battery-powered lights) for the garage forecourt, please come along from 4pm. Venetia will be there to help.

Carol sheets will be provided and mulled wine served at the end of the singing.

As we will all be aware, since the carol singing was planned there has been an increase in the spread of Covid both nationally and locally. Our own region is on high alert. While the gathering will be following Covid safeguards, there will always be a level of risk – each of us is responsible for our own safety and need to look out for the safety of others. So, if you decide to come, please, please keep the rules about social distancing and face coverings, even during the singing. There will be some villagers in high-visibility jackets who have the impossible job of crowd control. There will be notices on the road warning traffic.

The weather for the evening looks unpromising, so we may be singing in the rain. If the rainfall resembles a monsoon, the gathering may be cancelled. Please check the website in the late afternoon to see if the weather, or any new instructions from higher authorities, mean that the event has to be cancelled.
