If you are the sort of person who likes to work out a puzzle in their spare time (not that you have any of course!), you might like to have a little think about this conundrum.
I have for many years bought old stamp collections and I have been able to use some of the mint stamps to post letters, as anything issued after 1971 is still valid. I often need to add extra, small denomination stamps to my letters to make sure the postage is paid in full at the current rate.
I went into the Post Office on Saturday and gave Andy a £2 coin and asked for some 10p stamps, twice as many 2p stamps and 6 times as many 1p stamps. I didn’t get any change. Can you work out how many stamps I bought altogether?
