New Mobile Library Service

Somerset Libraries is introducing a free mobile library service provided by Somerset County Council. The service is available to anyone who loves reading but is unable to access the library due to long term illness, mobility issues or caring responsibilities. Reading can really lift mood and spirits and a visit from a volunteer can help ease loneliness.

How the service works:

When you contact us we will arrange for a volunteer to visit you. They will ask you what you like to read and the best times to visit you, usually on a fortnightly or monthly basis. The volunteer will choose books based on your preferences and deliver them to you.

Our volunteers can also support you in accessing free e-books, e-audiobooks and e-magazines. They can provide you with audio books and DVDs for free.

All our volunteers are DBS checked and have provided references and undertaken training.

If you would like to volunteer for this service or find out more about how individuals can access the service, please contact me on kjenssen@somerset.gov.uk or phone 07814 079831.
