The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Picnic

A Date for Your Diary – Saturday June 4th

As I’m sure you’re all aware, the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration Weekend takes place from June 2nd – June 5th. The programme of events lists Sunday, June 5th as The Big Lunch day when street parties and picnics are planned to take place across the nation.

However, this is the same day as the Jubilee Pageant, featuring over 5,000 people from across the UK and the Commonwealth, combining art, theatre, music, circus, carnival (including a Bridgwater carnival float) and costume, to celebrate the Queen’s service to the nation and honouring the service of people and communities across the country. This will be televised, and the Parish Council feels that many villagers will wish to watch the Pageant on TV. We have therefore decided to hold the Wootton Courtenay Jubilee Picnic on Saturday, June 4th instead. Fingers crossed that the rain stays away!

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at our village picnic wearing your Platinum Jubilee hats!

Best wishes,

Wootton Courtenay Parish Council
