Diana Rusher recommends visiting the garden at Hollam House, which is opening to the public next Friday. A 5-acre garden on a south-facing slope, it is a riot of colour in May when the rhododendrons and thousands of bulbs reach a peak. Unusual trees and shrubs, a water garden, meadow areas and a rill offer plenty of inspiration. And there are excellent refreshments available too.
