Just Two Things: Inside and Outside

Every month we’ll be posting two eco tips on the website and village email. They will be suggestions for small ways that we as individuals can help protect our environment. Feedback is always welcome

Not a Jumble Sale
The clothing industry accounts for 10% of global pollution, releasing 1.2 billion tonnes of carbon emissions annually. It takes 1800 gallons of water to produce the cotton for one pair of jeans and 400 gallons to produce the cotton for a T-shirt. So why not help the environment by going for second-hand or ‘pre-loved’ clothes. In the autumn Sustainable Wootton Courtenay will be holding an afternoon of tea, cakes and a sale of good quality pre-loved clothes. When you sort out your wardrobe don’t throw anything out but save it for the sale. Look forward to making some pocket money and finding a bargain!!!

Details to come nearer the time.

No Mow May
Try and leave at least some of your grass uncut to improve bio diversity. The pollinating insects will appreciate it as the grass flowers. Possibly wild flowers – weeds! will also appear for them. Maybe mow a path or two to make it look as though you are still in control!!
