We have been having issues with the newspaper delivery arriving on time at the weekends. There are two reasons for this:
1) The delivery driver is obliged to follow a ridiculous route which involves him going backwards and forwards past the same places, and doesn’t prioritise our shop.
2) The papers are now going first to Exeter on the train, and they are then distributed via a van to various depots. As a result the van is arriving up to three hours late!
The driver doesn’t get paid any extra for the hours he sits waiting at 3am in the morning, nor is he given petrol money for the extra mileage demanded by the company’s delivery policy. It’s no wonder there’s a constant change of delivery drivers.
I have tried phoning and emailing the company to sort out the problem, and will try again next week, but for the time being if anyone who has weekend papers could pick them up after 9.30am on both Saturday and Sunday it would be most useful.
Thanks,
Sarah Fox
