Thinking Allowed

Our next Thinking Allowed will be on Monday 18th May. Our topic will be on the importance of history and how the past helps us live in the present. This is an important question for us today when so much of society and politics seem rudderless. At the entrance to the concentration camp in Dachau and also at Auschwitz are the words: ‘Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.’ The challenge is how we remember the past in a way that does not keep us there but enables us to move into the future. These are the kind of questions that may arise – but who knows where our conversation may lead? I can see a lively evening.

Background notes will be posted later in the week. We meet at 7pm in the Villagers’ Stores. The bar will be open from 6.30pm. As well as friendly company, there will be stimulating conversation and poetry. If you haven’t been to Thinking Allowed before, you are assured of a warm welcome.
