Theatre Club’s Gala Night

Monday 6th July

Over the past few years the Theatre Club has screened a ballet to celebrate midsummer. We are a bit later this year – but still have a treat for ballet lovers.

On Monday, 6th July at 7pm for 7.30, we are screening a triple bill of one-act ballets which are a tribute to Frederick Ashton, the Royal Ballet’s Founder Choreographer. The ballets are: ‘The Dream’ (1964), an interpretation of Shakespeare’s A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream and starring Steven McRae; ‘Symphonic Variations’ (1946), an early Ashton masterpiece, and ‘Marguerite and Armand’ (1963), a tragic love story of great lyrical beauty.

Described by The Daily Telegraph (so it must be true) as: “A passionate tribute to an all-time genius…a perfectly chosen trio of works by its [The Royal Ballet’s] founder choreographer…that reminds us just how brightly and variously his genius blazed”.

Well, who would want to miss that? So please join us at the village hall on 6th July to enjoy strawberries with cream and a glass of Pimms, together with the beautiful dancing of the Royal Ballet. Tickets on the door £20. Please put your name down in the shop (for catering purposes only). And I’ll hope to see you there.
