A Talk by Dr Ken Thompson –
‘Darwin’s Most Wonderful Plants’
Members free. Guests £5.

I’m very pleased to announce that Dr Ken Thompson has again agreed to give a talk to the Gardening Club, this time on Charles Darwin’s plants. Those who remember last year’s No Nettles Required will know what an entertaining speaker he is.
Ken sees Darwin as a revolutionary botanist whose observations and theories were far ahead of his time, which is now being confirmed by high-tech modern research. This talk explores plants’ symbiotic relationships and their triffid-like ‘intelligence’, including how they move and even hunt. It also shows what plants reveal about the processes of evolution.

Now retired from his post as Senior Research Fellow of Sheffield University, Ken currently writes for the RHS magazine The Garden, and Gardens Illustrated, amongst other things. We are very lucky to have him come and speak to our small gardening club, and this fascinating talk is definitely a date for your diary!
Non-members are always welcome, at a small charge of £5. Doors open at 7.00pm, and teas and coffees will be served before the talk.
