As you may already know, the Flower & Produce Show generates funds for the village Gardening Club. I thought it might be useful to let you know where that money goes.
The Flower & Produce Show made £489.18 last year, and an extra £100 from selling your donated vegetables in the village shop. £589.18 in total.
The Gardening Club donated £400 of this to the community growing project Good Vibe Veg, to enable group visits from local schoolchildren to learn all about the process of growing food. The extra £100 was donated to the West Somerset Food Cupboard.
In addition, the Gardening Club funds members’ entry to a garden each year which opens on behalf of either the NGS or St Margaret’s Hospice, donating at least £100 to charity in the process. This year it will be St Margaret’s.
No Auction this Year
A reminder that there will be no auction at the Show this year. Instead, exhibitors will be invited to bring their cakes, preserves and flower arrangements to a designated sales table, where they will be sold by donation. Payments will be taken as cash or card.
As you can see from the information above, one way or another all the money from the Show will end up going to worthy causes, including the funds generated from sales of your donated produce. Thank you to everyone who contributes to this event, it is testimony to the remarkable generosity of spirit in our village.
